Decide what the room must do
Before any company visits, list the must-haves: how much hangs long, how much hangs short, how many drawers, how many pairs of shoes, who uses the mudroom. This list is the project. The closets, pantries, garages and mudrooms topics help you write it.
Get a drawing

Understand the number

Precise field measurements of walls, ceiling height, doors, windows, outlets and obstructions.
Design
A layout drawing or 3D rendering with sections, heights and accessories for you to react to.
Approve & order
Sign off on the final drawing, finish and price. Changes after this point usually cost more.

Components are cut, edged and finished. Lead time depends entirely on the provider's schedule — ask for it in writing.
Install
Old shelving comes out, walls are patched if needed, the system goes in and is leveled and adjusted.
